Highlights and Knee - Knee is a term referring to the highlights (whites) of HD. If HD’s strengths are its "blacks," the major weakness is the "whites." Many a cinematographer has commented on the nessessity of keeping the whites at bay, otherwise, the oversaturated area quickly reveals itself to be something less than film. No argument here, however, an operator will have much more control of the highlights by manually controlling the knee.
